Advanced Diagnostics & Treatment

Diagnostic imaging, also known as radiology, is a rapidly advancing field of medicine that utilizes technology to help diagnose, manage, and treat a number of diseases and conditions.
Our hospitals and outpatient facilities are equipped with some of the most advanced imaging technologies available today. Community Memorial Imaging is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), which means we meet the most rigorous standards in image quality, staff training, and equipment.

Our Radiology Department, at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura provides imaging for patients in and out of the hospital, as well as easy access to diagnostics and radiology consultations for our Surgery, Critical Care, and Emergency departments. Our Emergency Department also has dedicated imaging technology, including a mobile X-ray unit that allows for bedside imaging with immediate results.

Outpatient diagnostic imaging services are available on our Community Memorial Hospital campuses in Ojai and Ventura. Visit our Imaging Locations & Services for more information.

Our Team

When you come to Community Memorial for a test, you can count on our team of certified radiology technologists to guide you through the process and administer your test. Each technologist has knowledge and education specific to the type of imaging her or she performs.

Your test results or images are securely transmitted to our team of board-certified radiologists who evaluate the detailed images, detect abnormal patterns that may indicate illness, and report back to your primary care doctor or specialist.

Services

Bone Density Testing: Are you at risk for osteoporosis? Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) bone density testing can help diagnosis the disease in its earliest stages, allowing you to begin treatment sooner. CT bone density testing is also an option for diagnosing osteoporosis. Both types of bone density testing are available at our partner facility, Grossman Imaging.

Cardiovascular Imaging: Cardiovascular imaging includes a number of different tests that take pictures of your heart and the surrounding structures and tissues. You cardiologist may order a cardiovascular imaging test to help diagnose or screen you for a heart condition.

CT Scanning: A CT scan, sometimes referred to as a CAT scan, uses X-ray equipment to produce multiple images of the inside of the body. A computer then joins these images to form a cross-sectional view of the area being studied. CT scans provide more detail and clarity than the images produced by a standard X-ray and allow our radiologists to more easily diagnose problems such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.

Fluoroscopy: Fluoroscopy is an imaging technology that produces a continuous X-ray image much like a movie. It allows for visualization of the movement of a body part, medical device, or contrast agent inserted into the body. It is commonly used to see blood vessels, organs, and the gastrointestinal tract. Fluoroscopy may also be used to guide the placement of catheters, medical devices, or artificial joints.

Mammography: Mammography is a key component of a preventative care routine, and can also play a vital role in diagnosing any potential issues affecting the breasts and surrounding tissues. Community Memorial offers the most advanced digital breast imaging and diagnostic technologies at our Breast Center and Community Memorial Hospital – Ojai.

MRI: A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner provides remarkably detailed pictures of the body, using a large magnet, radio waves and a computer to scan the body and produce images that cannot be produced with conventional X-rays.

MRI scanners are used to examine the brain, spinal cord, abdomen, chest, bones and joints. The equipment enables the discovery of tumors that might have been missed in other types of examinations.

Nuclear Medicine: Nuclear Medicine is a medical specialty that uses radioactive tracers to evaluate the cause of a medical condition based on the function of your bones, organs, and tissue, and to diagnose or treat disease. Using information gathered from Gamma and SPECT/CT scanners, our Radiologists diagnose conditions of blood circulation, infections, organ function, tumors, and forms of cancer. Learn more about our Nuclear Medicine services.

Ultrasound: An ultrasound uses sound waves that are transmitted through the skin to produce an image. After placing gel on the skin, a transductor is moved over the skin to create a picture. These pictures can be used to assess a variety of areas of the body. They can also be used to guide the placement of needles for PICC lines, IVs, and biopsies.

X-ray: For years, X-rays have been relied upon as one of the most economic and accessible ways to diagnose conditions such as chest infections or broken bones. X-rays utilize electromagnetic waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Community Memorial continuously upgrades its X-ray equipment to minimize radiation exposure to our patients. For patients with acute conditions or injuries, X-rays are available at our urgent care locations as well as our hospitals in Ojai and Ventura.
